A Kit Movie?

I ran across this when I was on the website for the WB's new series "Summerland" Is anyone familiar with the film? Read text below--


Nikki Westerly on Summerland

Thirteen-year-old Kay Panabaker is already a veteran of stage, television and film as well as a high school graduate. She makes her television series-starring debut as Nikki, the middle child and the voice of reason in The WB's new drama Summerland.
Born near Houston, Texas and raised in Philadelphia, Atlanta and Chicago, Panabaker got her start in community theater in Atlanta when she was 8 years old, then made her professional debut in a Chicago Shakespeare Theater production of The Herbal Bed at the age of 9. She won a lead in the film American Girls: Kit's World while in Chicago, and followed that with a one-week trip to Los Angeles to test the waters. During her week there, Kay landed the child lead in the film Dead Heat, starring Kiefer Sutherland and Anthony LaPaglia, and there was no turning back.

Summerland is coming out soon on WB, starring Laurie Loughfin, who is my friend's cousin! So, I hope, if he can call his cousin and find out!!! But he has not spoken to Laurie since Full House. But I can try!

It says film...so it's probably (?) another AG movie. I'm a little disappointed since I was hoping for a Molly movie next...but any AG movie will be fun! And she looks like she would really make a good Kit!

I've been online trying to find more mentions of it, but can't. There are so many super-sleuths on here that I think we all keep finding things no one is supposed to know yet! [img]wink.gif[/img]

If they come out with a new movie every year, will each girl get a friend doll? In another post, someone wrote that there would be a friend doll every other year, with ltd. edition AGT in the other years.

It seems weird they would choose a 13 year old for this role. By the time she films the movie, she could be 14, and Kit is only 9-10! Age differences are more significant the younger you get. Like how many people are complaining that Daniel Radcliffe is too old to portray Harry Potter, and he is I think 2 years older than Harry.

I just read an interview in Parade magazine Sunday where Daniel Radcliffe says he's the same age as Harry Potter. It's not that he has gotten too old yet...people are just worried he will, and that he might "grow up" too fast (in appearance) or that the movies will not be able to be made one a year (especially since the books aren't finished yet). "I'm still the same age Harry is, and I haven't actually grown that much" (Daniel Radcliffe).

I realized after rereading this, too, that it says she has "a lead." But I can't think of any other females in Kit's books, except the lady boarders, but they would be older than 13. This makes me wonder if it's possible that Kit's movie was made first and that it has been shelved/on hold, due to the Nellie doll being released. "...[A]nd followed that..." makes it sound a lot like the movie production has already been wrapped.

Edited to add...I took this theory and ran with it. I looked up <u>Dead Heat</u>, and the movie was made in 2000, four years ago.

Since the article says she did this movie after the American Girl one, that means (if this theory is correct) that she would have been around nine when she played the part of Kit.

This is just a wild theory, but I wonder if maybe this movie has already been made! If so, American Girl/WB sure know how to keep secrets!

Wow, made that long ago?? That would be very surprising considering Kit only came out in 2000, I think.
